One of my favourite artists….Toronto’s Duncan Johnstone
Today my heart is aching for a family I don’t even know.
How much can a family endure? After surviving the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, they escaped in order to ensure their son’s health was not compromised. They left it all. EVERYTHING! They arrived penniless and are now living in a shelter.
It makes me so angry that with all their hardships, they are greeted with more roadblocks. Specifically RED TAPE! Can’t the powers that be make an exception? Do they really have to wait the requisite 3 months for their Ontario Health insurance to kick in? Can’t the father get a work visa so that the mother can take care of her sick son and 8 month old baby?
UGH!
You know what though? I will keep spreading the word, because I believe in the compassion of people. I believe we can make the difference in their lives, even if our own government remains tangled in their own red tape.
